Riikka Dahlman, Municipal Election Candidate 2025, SDP Helsinki
I am a 47-year-old expert in working life from Helsinki. My current home is located in Tapaninvainio, Northeast Helsinki. I have previously lived in Käpylä, Pasila, and Maunula. Each district in Helsinki has its own charm, and I understand why people love their neighborhoods. My household includes my husband and two dachshunds. I enjoy various trust duties, participating in the Martha Association, and volunteer fire brigade activities.
I decided to run for the municipal elections for the first time in 2025 because I felt that I have something to offer to the people of Helsinki. I am ”almost ready” with my master’s degree in social sciences from the Work and Well-being master’s program. My previous education is in psychiatric nursing. As a nurse, I worked in both youth and adult acute psychiatry and substance abuse work. You can learn more about my career on LinkedIn.
I have been on the payroll of labor market organizations for nearly 20 years. A trade union is like an insurance company. People get in touch when there is a problem in working life and help is needed. Therefore, I know well where the working life stands at the moment. Much development has happened, but there is still much to be done. One catastrophe is the salary payment problems of the City of Helsinki, which one might think could not happen in the 2020s.
The people of Helsinki need individuals in the city council who are interested in developing Helsinki, improving services, and the well-being of the environment. Throughout my life, I have held numerous trust positions and have always handled the tasks with honor and humility. Now it is time to give time to Helsinki. With the combination of my studies and life experience, I have insights and views on how the city should be taken forward.
